5.1.0.0–5.1.0.1

AR5 Users,

These release notes take us through two updates. The first, version 5.1.0.0, includes a variety of under-the-hood changes that improve AR5's scalability. The other, version 5.1.0.1, is a smaller release that’s live now and includes some quality-of-life updates to records management for both forms and members. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new.

5.1.0.0

The 5.1 release is a milestone for AR5, and its most significant behind-the-scenes update yet. Changes to caching, login authentication, and data management prepare AR5 to scale smoothly, accommodating both additional websites and new features. With these improvements to its foundation, AR5 is ready for what's next.

Other Features & Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that prevented groups from being deleted.
  • Added a warning that prevents you from deleting a page if the page is assigned to an area in admin (e.g., “homepage” or “404”).

5.1.0.1

Version 5.1.0.1 contains improvements to sorting and filtering of form records and member records, on both the front end and back end. Here's a list of what's new:

  • Data from checkbox form fields can now be reliably sorted and filtered.
  • When a field in a record has never been saved (a field in a profile that’s never been edited, for instance), AR5 now shows the default value of the field if there is one, and if there isn’t, it shows the value as blank instead of displaying “None.”
  • When you add a filter on the back end, the cog wheel menu now closes automatically after you click the “filter” link.
  • A button to remove a filter is now available to the right of each one, and a button to clear its value is also available if the filter is a text field.
  • Checkboxes, dynamic list fields, and certain other special fields now appear as select elements when used as filters, with options appropriate to the filter in question.
  • Members can now be filtered by groups on the back end, in the members filter panel. By default, all the groups are selected.
  • Member fields (e.g., "Username," "First Name") can now be used to sort and filter records in front-end member directory modules.

Other Features & Fixes

  • Updated our caching system to a newer version in order to fix problems with intermittent, acute server slowness.
  • Improved the date-picking widget that appears when you engage a date field on both the front and the back end, making it more intuitive to use.
  • Fixed edit-in-place functionality for member fields.
  • Changed unclear labeling for feed sorting options.

We’re committed to providing the best experience possible for our users, and your feedback helps us to do that. If you have questions or comments about anything in these release notes, or about anything at all, don’t hesitate to let us know. As always, we thank you for choosing Agency of Record.

Sincerely,
The AR Team

AR5 Users,

The latest update to AR5 is now here, bringing with it a number of improvements to our suite of tools for front-end design. Themes have been expanded to include more types of page content, and you can now create and define custom module styles that you can apply, on the fly, to modules on the page. Let's take a closer look.
