5.0.3.6

AR5 Users,

AR5 version 5.0.3.6 is now live. This update includes some minor changes to the look and feel of AR5, as well as some great new features for forms and data. There are a couple of new articles available on the help site, and we’ve tweaked the styles there, too. Let’s take a closer look!

AR5 Look & Feel

Image boxes, link buttons, and library buttons have received a makeover. The image box (as seen, for example, in a section) is now smaller, opening up to its previous size only when an image is assigned to it. This helps to make it less obtrusive when it's not being used. The image box now also has a checkered background to improve the visibility of transparent images.

A new button labeled “Edit Image” has been added to help direct users in lieu of the large image box; you can now click either this button or the image box itself to access the image panel.

Next to the new edit image button is the image link button. Link buttons have been changed throughout AR5 to be more consistent with the section WYSIWYG editor’s link button: they’re now labeled with an icon rather than with text.  Likewise, the library button now appears as a square button labeled with a folder icon. In the section image panel, the image and rollover fields have been expanded to show more of the URL path and filename of the image.

Forms & Data

A new form field is now available: the dynamic list field. The dynamic list field allows you to use values from records in one form to populate a select box in another form. As an example, a soccer tournament website might have coaches register their teams using one form, and allow players to sign up for the tournament using a second form. Using a dynamic list field, players would be able to choose their team from the list of teams that the coaches registered using the first form. Dynamic list fields can also be used in data modules to display and/or filter records. An article about the dynamic list field is coming soon to the help site; until it's ready, feel free to contact us to learn more.

Accompanying the new dynamic list field is another new feature: while viewing form records, you can now choose to display:

  1. values
  2. labels
  3. both values and labels

Help Site

  • A new article on tables is available.
  • A new article on fonts is available.
  • On some articles a table of contents is now available in the right column, with links to the different parts of the article.
  • Various small changes to styles have been made. Most notably, the center column is now wider and the blue heading is now consistently used as the highest level of organization within an article.

Bug Fixes

  • While editing a section, the image preview showed the previous value of the image field on hover.
  • Form fields had incomplete options panels when initially added to a form.
  • Patched servers to secure against “Heartbleed” bug. More information to follow in separate email.

We’re excited about these developments, and we hope that you are too. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to us with comments, questions, or concerns. Thank you for choosing Agency of Record.

Sincerely,
The AR Team
