5.0.3.4–5.0.3.5

AR5 Users,

These notes take us through two releases to version 5.0.3.5, which brings with it the all-new table module! The table module allows you to create tables on your website using a straightforward interface that includes a variety of features and controls. It’s powerful, it’s easy to use, and there’s never been anything like it. Let’s take a closer look.

Tables

See your table as you build it.

Building a table in AR5 starts with simply clicking on a cell and typing. The table module provides a live, editable preview of your table, so you can see the changes that you're making as you make them. The cell that currently has focus appears outlined in blue, and you can switch focus from cell to cell using tab, ctrl+arrow keys, or cmd+arrow keys.

Above the editable table are various fields and options that you can use to style, structure, and format your table. As you make changes with these controls, you’ll see the effect of your changes in your table below.

Control content alignment and table structure.

Controls in the toolbar allow you to set the vertical and horizontal alignment of cell content, as well as add and delete columns and rows relative to the current cell.

Add images, links, lists and more.

Also available in the toolbar is a link to open the advanced editor, which allows you to edit the contents of the current cell using an editor that you may recognize from the section module. The advanced editor occupies the entire module card while open and includes features such as an image field, a link wizard, and a formatting selector for creating headings.

Apply styles to change your table’s look.

You can add styles to your table, to a row, or to a cell. Several styles come predefined, allowing you to remove or modify the table’s borders, apply heading or subheading styles to a row, or remove the padding from within a cell—and much more.

Set column widths, row spans, and column spans.

You can set the width of a column as a percentage of the width of the whole table, or you can set its width to an absolute value using a unit such as pixels. Also available are controls that determine the number of rows or columns that a cell spans.

Other Features & Fixes

  • Now available under Admin is the redirects tab. There you can set up a series of 301 redirects, useful when moving from an old site to AR5.
  • The switch screen has a new look. Now included next to each site name is the site’s favicon, which serves as a quick-access link to the site’s front end.
  • Changes to CMS styles that prevent unwanted user highlighting in certain UI contexts.
  • Grids can now be duplicated.
  • New on the help site: Journals & Articles.

We’re excited about these changes and additions to AR5, and we hope that you are too. Keep an eye out for articles about the new table module, coming soon to the AR5 help site, and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or feedback—we love hearing from you! As always, we thank you for choosing Agency of Record.

Sincerely,
The AR Team
