AR5 Users,

AR version is now live, bringing with it a variety of exciting updates. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

Module Previews

Back-end previews have been reengineered to accommodate every module type, including galleries, forms, feeds, and many more. Previews allow you to get a sense of what your content will look like on your website without having to visit a front-end page. As you change content or options, previews will update to reflect your changes. You’ll see previews wherever modules are assigned—such as pages—as well as on the details pages for certain types of modules.

Labels for Special Pages

Container pages and redirect pages now include additional labeling in their page titles to indicate what type of page they are. For instance, a container page titled “Page 34: About Us” would now have the title “Page 34: About Us [Container].” In addition, the content tabs on container and redirect pages have been grayed out to indicate that content on such pages will not appear on the front end. Both the container and redirect options are available under a page’s info tab, in the nav + seo card.

Member Directory Module

The new member directory module expands our growing set of community features by enabling you to present member record information on a front-end page for other members or the public to see. Member record data in a directory module is much like form record data in a data module: it’s sortable, filterable, and searchable, and you can customize both what information appears and how it's styled. Contact us to learn more about this exciting new feature.

Other Features & Fixes

  • AR now prevents you from assigning the same form field to a form more than once (this would cause an error upon form submission) and alerts you when you attempt to do so, instructing you to duplicate the field if you need to reuse it.
  • Boilerplate previews now appear with widths that differ according to the boilerplate regions to which they are assigned (e.g., a boilerplate assigned to column 1 (left) and set to “Full” appears less wide than a full width boilerplate assigned to the footer).
  • The redirect field for a page (in the nav + seo card) now has its own link wizard, rather than just a text field for the redirect URL.
  • Fixed a bug that caused module previews to be rendered more than once on page load.

Help Site

  • An article on module styles is now available. Module styles allow you to define classes for a module type and insert them into the front-end HTML of any module of that type, so that you can apply custom CSS or JavaScript wherever and whenever you need it.
  • We’ve collected our release notes and published them to the help site, and we’ll continue to do so for future releases.

These changes constitute a significant improvement to the quality of day-to-day publishing in AR5. They’ve been in development for some time, and we’re excited to finally share them with you. If you have any questions about this release or about anything else, don’t hesitate to contact us—we’d love to hear from you. As always, we thank you for choosing Agency of Record.
